John Legend & The Roots Want the World to WAKE UP!

Get ready for an astounding collaboration ladies and gentlemen. As of September 21st, 2010 John Legend and The Roots will be dropping their album called "WAKE UP!". Inspired by the 2008 presidential election, the two forces believed it was time to add their contribution to today's society. Creating songs that speak on awareness, engagement, and consciousness, hence forth the title "WAKE UP!" According to blog critics the album's sound is a mixture of soul, r&b, gospel, reggae, and rock. The duo also recreated a few know tracks from back in the day such as "Wholly Holy" from Marvin Gaye and one of my all time favorites "Little Ghetto Boy" by Donnie Hathaway. This album is going to take us on a great journey. Support GOOD music people.

Ingenuity on Wheels

Gentlemen I would like to introduce an oldie but goodie...the 1948 Buick Streamliner. Designed by mechanical engineer Norman E. Tibbs, this beaut was considered to be an all American hot rod and I must say even today it still hold it's title.

By the way...while you're admiring one...take a look at the other. Feast your eyes on the 1939 Rolls-Royce Phantom III Cabriolet. Parisian designer Henri Labourdette rebuilt the model giving it a look that allowed driving to become a new art form. Indulge people. Lick. It. Up.

Deep in the Woods

Ever considered a shell shaped house? Of course not. From the mind of architect Kotaro Ide, a one of a kind villa located in Kaurizawa Japan. This modern day house sits in the middle of the forest surrounded by tall trees, rugged rocks, and cold caves. This is a great place for the modern day woods men. Eat your heart out Paul Bunyan.

A Wonderful WondaMix

Hello my fellow Vessels!!! Yes it has been a moment. My apologizes I've been in and out of this world lately...but lets not sweat the small stuff. The important thing is that "The Vessel" is back and running. Let me kick off this new journey with a video from one of my favorite vessels, Janelle Monae. At the beginning of this month she released a new version of "Tightrope", the Wondamix, featuring Lupe Fiasco and B.O.B. Back in April of this year, I had the pleasure of viewing this duo in concert. THE BEST CONCERT EVER!!! Now all I need for them to do is add Miz. Monae on the next round and my life will be complete. True artist like this don't come around everyday...embrace it people.

Here comes the god

I can't quite figure out this guy by the name of Phil Reid also known as "Phil the god". I came across his work while watching Diggy Simmons' mixtape video "Made U Look" and apparently he has directed and edited a couple of raw videos for well known and up and coming artist. He is not quite on the mainstream scene yet but he is definitely coming soon. He's gonna give directors like Hype Williams, Billy Woodruff, and Chris Robinson a run for the money. Look out fellas you got some serious competing coming. This dude is on the road to greatness. I'm diggin his cinematography and rough cuts....very inspiring.

Metropolis: A Land Before Our Time

Ever wondered how Janelle Monae came up with the theme to her previous and new album? Monae's creativity was inspired by an old 1920's classic called "Metropolis", a silent German science fiction film. Writer/ Novelist Thea von Harbou and director Fritz Lang created a movie taken place in the year of 2026. A futuristic film that highlights the control of computers, the power of the elite class, and the inhuman struggle of society as middle class become extinct, leaving only upper and lower class. Does any of this sound familiar? Think about it? This movie is the original "Matrix" and "Blad Runner". A classic masterpiece and head of it's time. Mark my words sooner or later Hollywood will attempt to remake this movie into a Blockbuster hit. Now how does Janelle Monae's concept have to do with the film? Instead of telling you I suggest to those who are interested, listen to Janelle Monae's previous and new album and read the the Novel "Metropolis" written by Thea von Harbou. There is a world of knowledge within these two sources. It's not hard to find...you just have to listen and observe. Be Inspired people.

Shingai Shoniwa's Style

Shingai Shoniwa is a fashionable inspiration. Besides being the lead singer of the ever-so-amazing British indie rock band the Noisettes, she makes sure to strut her stuff in style on and off stage. Looking like a Nubian queen she combines sultry colors and unique patterns to fit her little frame. And to top off her look she manages to empress viewers with a crown-like up do...perfect for a queen.
